Honourable Guests
Two of Latin America’s most renowned classical pianists will play European and Latin American classical music.
Teresita Gómez (Guest of Honour): A legendary figure of Colombian piano, Gómez began studies in Medellín at the age of four and developed a career spanning recitals, concertos and recordings across the Americas and Europe. Her artistry has been recognised with high national distinctions, and she continues to inspire new generations through performance and teaching.
Blanca Uribe (Guest of Honour): The Colombian pianist is admired for authoritative readings of Beethoven’s 32 sonatas and Albéniz’s complete Iberia. Born into a family of musicians, she studied in Vienna and built an international career as soloist and pedagogue. Critics have called her “a truly great pianist”.
Special Guests
Diversity in the interpretation of European and Latin American classical music by special guests
Sergio Posada: Based in Vienna, Posada has served for decades as accompanist and coach at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and at summer academies, collaborating closely with emerging artists. His work bridges stage and studio, bringing Viennese traditions into dialogue with Latin American repertoire.
Ana María Orduz: Pianist, educator and cultural organiser from Medellín. Founder and director of Fundación Pianissimo and co-director of the Piano Festival of the Americas, she combines concert activity with community projects and has appeared at venues including Carnegie Hall in New York.
Pablo Rojas: Colombian pianist formed in Medellín and Vienna, prize‑winner and soloist with major ensembles. His programmes connect European repertoire with Latin American authors, and he has appeared at venues such as the Wiener Konzerthaus and Teatro Colón in Bogotá.
Eugenia Méndez: Pianist, singer and composer with roots in Venezuela and a career that spans performance and education. She leads creative projects for children and families and develops repertoire that moves between Latin American idioms and classical textures.
Sofía Bustamante: A young pianist recognised in international competitions and projects showcasing Latin American talent abroad. Her work explores the interface between folk sources and classical technique, with a growing recital profile.
Juan Carlos López: Pianist from Ibagué with postgraduate training in piano pedagogy at the National University of Colombia. Active as concert soloist, coach and educator at the Conservatory of Tolima, he combines performance with outreach initiatives.
Daniel Duplat: Colombian pianist and interdisciplinary artist whose projects connect classical training with songwriting and media work. He has presented his music in cultural circuits while collaborating with educational and community programmes.
COLOMBIAN SOUNDS Trio: A Vienna-based ensemble dedicated to Colombian music, the trio channels post-colonial traditions shaped by European waltzes alongside African and Indigenous Latin American rhythms. Their programmes foreground living folklore and cultural memory through finely balanced chamber textures. The group features Daniel Melguizo (violin), Luis Carlos Muñoz (guitar/tiple) and Camilo Obando (bass), weaving melody and pulse into an intimate, story-driven sound that aligns naturally with the festival’s dialogue between regions and repertoires.
